3 Hot Drinks for Winter You Must Try at Home

Winter is a less favored season for many people, I know… But the truth is, I actually love winter! Maybe it’s strange 🙊, but ever since I can remember, rain has always excited me, bringing a sense of abundance and blessing… A rainy day usually feels like a day of celebration for me… ☺️

Besides, winter is the best opportunity for a cozy, warm family atmosphere—more than any other season of the year.

So, experimenting with making hot drinks (and soups) has become my hobby during the past winters.

I find myself trying something new every time, adding it to the warm, homey atmosphere of this season. 🌦☁️🌧

I’ve gathered simple and easy-to-do recipes of my top 3 hot drinks for winter

Winter Hot Drink #1: Homemade Sahlab (Middle eastern milk pudding)

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup oat milk (or any other milk)
  • 2 heaping teaspoons cornstarch
  • 1/2 teaspoon coconut sugar (or any other sugar)
  • A bit of vanilla extract
  • Coconut
  • Peanuts and/or pistachios/nuts/almonds, crushed (to taste)
  • Cinnamon

Preparation:

  1. In a small pot, bring the milk to a boil with the cornstarch, stirring constantly to avoid lumps. Stir for about 3-4 minutes until it starts to thicken slightly.
  2. Add 1/2 teaspoon of sugar and a bit of vanilla extract to the pot. Continue stirring for another minute.
  3. Pour into a cup.
  4. Add your favorite toppings. I like to add coconut, crushed peanuts, and crushed pistachios. Sometimes I add crushed nuts or almonds.
  5. Sprinkle a bit of cinnamon on top for added flavor.

Winter Hot Drink #2: Hot Cocoa

Ingredients:

  • 2 teaspoons organic cocoa powder (or any cocoa powder)
  • 1 teaspoon natural organic maple syrup
  • A bit of vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup boiling water
  • 1 cup boiled/frothed oat milk (or any other milk)

Preparation:

  1. In a hot drink cup, add the cocoa powder, maple syrup, and vanilla.
  2. Add 1/4 cup boiling water and mix well until there are no lumps of cocoa (important, otherwise you’ll end up with bitter, unpleasant lumps).
  3. Add 1 cup of boiled/frothed milk.

And I can say that hot cocoa has become my go-to drink lately...

Winter Hot Drink #3: Tangy Fruity Tea

Ingredients:

  • Thin slices from a whole lemon
  • Juice from half a lemon
  • 2 cups mixed berries (strawberries, blackberries, raspberries, blueberries, cranberries, currants, etc.)
  • 2 teaspoons honey
  • A pitcher of boiling water

Preparation:

  1. Fill a pitcher with boiling water.
  2. Add the lemon slices, lemon juice, mixed berries, and 2 teaspoons of honey.
  3. Stir well

Have a Cousy Winter season ☁️
